Artwox Model 1:700 a wooden deck with masks and photo-etched parts for the battlecruiser Kongo 1944 in the full hull version is an accessory set to the Fujimi 420189 plastic kit, not the model itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is intended for the full hull version of the model, that is for a ship built complete including the underwater part on a stand, not for a waterline version cut off at the load line. It contains a self-adhesive deck of wood veneer with the laying of the planks printed on it, a masking template and photo-etched parts. The cut-outs match the Fujimi 420189 kit, so please check the match before buying.
Engraved planks on a plastic deck have a regular spacing and the same groove depth, and once sprayed they look like a continuous area with a regular grid. Wood veneer, by contrast, has growth rings and color nuances of its own, so every plank looks a little different, exactly as on a real deck. In 1:700 scale this difference is visible at first glance precisely on the large continuous areas, of which this ship has plenty.
First join the hull and sand the seams, because sanding is no longer possible once the veneer is laid. Put the model on a stand or in an improvised cradle so that it does not rock while the deck is being laid: with a full hull there is no flat bottom surface and any movement under the hand will make the veneer ripple. Only then peel the protective film off and lay the deck. The superstructures, the turrets and the photo-etched parts come in turn at the very end. Plan the painting of the hull so that it can be worked above the laid veneer with masking.
This is not a kit. The base model, paints, glue and a stand are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
