This photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard holds miniature life rings for detailed fitting-out of ship models in 1:700 scale. It is neither a model nor a kit but a universal accessory with which you can dress the railings, superstructures and decks of both warships and civilian ships with small yet markedly realistic features.
Life rings are part of the typical equipment of every ship, and in a small scale plastic parts usually do not capture them at all. Finely etched metal rings therefore add credibility to decks and superstructures and bring otherwise bare surfaces to life. The set is universal and suits a range of different ship models.
Separate the small rings from the fret with a sharp knife directly on a cutting mat and handle the parts with tweezers. Use a small amount of super glue (cyanoacrylate) to attach them. Degrease the metal before gluing, and once they are in place paint the parts in the matching colors.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
