This item is not a model of a ship but an accessory for building one. It brings fine photo-etched parts for a model of the Chinese guided missile destroyer Type 052C in 1:700 scale. It is precisely in this small scale that photo-etched parts make the most sense: thin sheet captures railings, radar screens and platforms in a thickness that an injection mold will not produce. The set is made by the Tetra Model Works brand, which specializes in accessories for ship models. The photo-etched parts are designed for the Type 052C kit from Trumpeter.
The Type 052C is a Chinese guided missile destroyer that entered the PLA Navy in the middle of the first decade of this century. It tends to be described as the first Chinese ship with a full air defense system at the level of the Western and Russian units of the day. Its recognition features are the four fixed phased array radar panels set into the block of the superstructure and the cylindrical cells of the vertical launch system for surface-to-air missiles on the bow and behind the funnel. Only a limited series was built, followed by the more numerous Type 052D.
Separate the photo-etched parts from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not with scissors. Make the bends along the marked grooves in a bending tool or against the edge of a piece of glass. They are bonded with super glue, and on larger areas two-part epoxy helps, because it gives time for exact seating. Before painting, always lay primer under photo-etched parts, otherwise the shade does not hold on smooth metal. The gray finish of modern warships comes to life when you shade the individual surfaces very slightly and pick out the edges; fit the railings at the very end, after the spraying and after the patina.
