1:700 PLA Navy Type 054A Frigate is a plastic kit of a modern multipurpose frigate of the PLA Navy from the manufacturer Trumpeter, in the popular ship scale of 1:700.

An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:700 scale, that is in the standard in which most collections of modern warships are built. Once finished the model measures several tens of centimeters and fits well on a shelf and in a display case beside other vessels of the same scale. Whether the package contains photo-etched parts, a stand or a waterline hull option is given by the contents printed on the packaging.
Type 054A is a class of multipurpose guided-missile frigates of the PLA Navy, built since the second half of the first decade of this century and forming a numerous part of the modern escort fleet. The hull has enclosed, simplified superstructures with a reduced radar signature, a gun turret and vertical launch cells on the bow, torpedo and anti-aircraft systems amidships and a hangar with a landing deck for a helicopter at the stern. The ships serve to escort task groups and for anti-submarine and air defense, and in recent years they have also appeared on long voyages abroad.
In a small scale the cleanliness of the work decides everything. Separate the parts with a sharp knife, sand the joints of the hull and the deck flush once they have dried and fill them if need be. It is practical to paint the superstructures and the masts separately and glue them on only after the paint has dried. Liven up the uniform gray surface with a darker accent in the recesses and a gentle lightening of the areas where the sun would show in practice. Railings and fine photo-etched antennas, if you buy them separately, should be glued with super glue in short sections. The model looks good on a simple stand or on a board with a suggested water surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
