A pre-cut sheet of natural veneer with a self-adhesive back and with the printed laying of the deck planks, cut for the deck areas of a battleship model in 1:700 scale. It replaces the molded plastic relief with real wood, whose grain differs slightly on every sheet, so two models never look exactly the same. The year in the name delimits the configuration of the real ship the cut relates to. The set is designed for the Dragon 7041 kit.
The USS Pennsylvania BB-38 was an American battleship of the class of the same name, taken into service still during the First World War. During the interwar period and then during the Second World War she went through several modernizations that fundamentally changed her superstructures, her fire control and her anti-aircraft armament. In the later part of the war she served mainly for artillery support of landing operations in the Pacific. The 1944 form therefore matches her state after rebuilding, not the original configuration of the ship.
The sheet of veneer deserves care even before the build. Store it flat, out of reach of the sun and in the dry: a bent or damp sheet lays badly and light will change its shade over time. Before you start, let it lie freely for at least an hour in the room where you will be working. If it still curls slightly, weight it through clean paper with a book and leave it overnight; never steam it or wet it. Remove the backing film only at the moment of laying and do not touch the exposed adhesive layer with anything, or it will lose part of its grip.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model. The kit, glue, paints and photo-etched parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
