A masking set for a Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II model in 1:72 scale, cut for the Hasegawa kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single-seat ground-attack aircraft intended for the direct support of ground units. You will know it at first glance: an angular airframe, a pair of rudders, engine nacelles set high on the sides of the rear fuselage and a cockpit protected by an armored bathtub. It flies slow and low, so its finishes tend to be well worn and rewarding for a modeler.
The set contains masks cut to the shape of the parts of the Hasegawa kit in 1:72 scale. In this scale cutting shapes out of adhesive tape is especially thankless, because the elements are tiny and the edges have to be clean. With a pre-cut mask that step falls away and the shapes fit the parts of the kit. The manufacturer's instructions give the extent of the coverage and the recommended order of work.
The masks belong on the model before spraying. The surface must be clean, degreased and the paint under the mask dry. Seat the element with tweezers, press it down around its whole perimeter and apply the paint in several thin coats, so that it does not run under the edge. After spraying, lift the mask off at a sharp angle before the finish has fully cured. Wipe off any adhesive residue gently and dry. Inspect the edges once it is off; small running-under can be repaired with a brush.
It suits a modeler who wants sharp color transitions and clean glazing without tedious cutting, and also anyone planning weathering and rubs on the model. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
