The real subject

The Avia BH-9 is a light single-engine aircraft of the 1920s, that is, from the time when the young Czechoslovakia was still building an aircraft industry of its own. The abbreviation BH in the designation refers to the pair of designers Benes and Hajn, who were behind a whole series of Avia machines. The machine goes by the nickname Boska.

What the set contains

It is a set for building a model in 1:72 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, so the assembly, the painting and any addition of small equipment are up to you. The 1:72 scale is the most widespread one for aircraft, so a finished machine slots in easily among the other models in a display case, and with an aircraft of this size it takes up little room.

Building and painting tips

Cut the parts off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down, so that the edge is not damaged. Dry fit every assembly before gluing, because with models of smaller runs it pays to tune the seams before the glue comes into play. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Finish the cockpit and the inner surfaces before you close the fuselage up, because after that you will no longer reach them. Lay the paint on in thin coats and polish the surface over with a gloss varnish before the decals, so that no bubbles form under the film.
