This item from MH models is not a kit of an aircraft but a correction set - a separate clear canopy with which you replace the cabin from a plastic kit. It offers the bulged, so-called bubble shape, that is a different type of glazing from the older, more angular form. Vacuum-formed film is thinner and clearer than an injection-molded part, which means the cockpit can be seen and the outline of the cabin looks lighter in scale. According to the name it is the closed version and there are two pieces in the package.
The Avia S-199 was a Czechoslovak postwar fighter built on an airframe derived from the Messerschmitt Bf 109G, into which a liquid-cooled Junkers Jumo engine with a large propeller was fitted. Among modelers the aircraft is known by the nickname Mezek, meaning mule. The machines also differed in the shape of the cockpit glazing, and alongside the Erla type a more bulged canopy appeared, which this set captures. Choosing the right shape is one of the main ways of telling a particular machine, so before the build it pays to compare a photograph of the subject.
Trace the outline of the part with an alcohol-based marker and cut the canopy out with a margin. Sand the excess film away on fine abrasive paper on a flat board, work in small steps and keep checking the fit on the fuselage. Then polish the surface with a compound for plastics or dip it in gloss clear varnish. Glue it only with a clear glue for clear parts that does not fog the surface - cyanoacrylate glue will cloud the part and liquid cement for plastic will attack it. Mask the frames with narrow tape and spray the color of the interior first, only then the external camouflage. The second piece in the package is a spare in case a cut does not come off.
This is an accessory to a kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
