An injection-molded plastic kit of the German fighter Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 in tropical configuration (Trop) in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model of the easy-build line makes use of large molded assemblies of the fuselage and the lower wing. The package contains engraved surface texture, a decently worked cockpit, a rotating three-blade propeller, a clear cockpit canopy and decals. The tropical version is set apart by the dust filter over the supercharger air intake for use in dusty surroundings.
The Bf 109 was the backbone of the German fighter force of the Second World War. The E version, called the Emil, was used at the start of the war, and the E-4 variant was among its mature forms with cannon armament in the wings. The tropical configuration added a filter against dust and equipment for desert conditions and was intended for the fighting in North Africa and the Mediterranean, where fine sand otherwise ruined engines.
Secure the joints with thin cement for plastic. A filler primer before painting will pick out the engraving. An airbrush is suitable for the desert camouflage, and you can fine-tune the small markings with a brush. Glue the dust filter under the nose carefully, because it is the recognition mark of the tropical version. Mask the clear canopy before painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
