About product

Peewit 1:72 Cessna UC-78A, JRC-1, T-50 Bobcat and Crane Mk.IA - mask set

A set of masking templates in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Peewit, intended for models of the twin-engine Cessna of the T-50 series and its military versions. The package contains no parts of the model - you get a sheet with pre-cut masks that are peeled off and stuck onto the glazing, or onto further areas that are to stay unsprayed. Hand-cutting tape with a knife thereby falls away, which shows up at once on an aircraft with cockpit glazing divided like this. Check the exact extent of the sheet, and whether it contains masks for the wheels, against the illustration of the sheet.

The real subject

The Cessna T-50 was a twin-engine light aircraft of mixed construction, which during the Second World War was used above all for training the crews of multi-engine machines and for liaison and transport tasks. In the American army air forces it carried the designation UC-78, with the navy JRC-1, and in British and Canadian service the name Crane. The nickname Bobcat became established for the whole type.

Usage tips

  • Before sticking the masks on, degrease the surface and let it dry completely - a mask does not hold on greasy glazing.
  • Lift the masks with tweezers and press them down with a wooden toothpick, mainly in the corners of the frames.
  • Spray the paint in thin coats; a heavy coat runs under the edge of the mask.
  • First apply the interior color of the frames and only then the outer camouflage shade - the transition will be clean.
  • Take the mask off while the paint is freshly dry, not after several days, when it may tear the edge of the coat away.

Who the set is for

  • Builders who do not enjoy hand-cutting masking tape
  • Modelers with an aircraft that has heavily divided cockpit glazing
  • Anyone who wants sharp frames without overspray and touch-ups

The package contains masking templates only. A model, paints and glue are not part of it.

FAQ

It is not. This is a set of masking templates; you have to obtain the model separately.

They are stuck onto the cockpit glazing before spraying, so that the frames come out sharp and the transparencies stay clean.

Check the content of the sheet including any masks for the wheels against the illustration of the sheet shown with the product.

Yes, provided you remove them shortly after the paint has dried and pull them at an angle across themselves, not perpendicular to the surface.
