This is a resin accessory to a base kit, not the Starfighter model itself. The designation detail set suggests that the set has a wider reach than a purely cockpit accessory. Check the particular make-up of the package against the instructions in the box. The set is cut for the Hasegawa kit. Before buying, check which F-104 kit you have at home.
The F-104G is the most widespread multirole version of the Starfighter, while the F-104S is a later variant built under license in Italy. The airframes of both versions share the same basis but differ in equipment and in details. That is exactly why accessories are often offered for both versions together: the modeler picks the parts according to which machine is being built. Which part belongs to which version is dealt with by the instructions enclosed with the set.
Wash the parts in warm soapy water before the build. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the surfaces by wet sanding, and with resin always protect your airways. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and on larger and loaded parts a two-part epoxy will serve as well. More extensive sets call for more dry fitting than small cockpit accessories: remove material gradually and preferably in several passes. Always prime resin before painting; with the silver and metallic shades the Starfighter often wore, a smooth and perfectly sanded base is the condition of a good result.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
