This item is not a model but a set of masks for the Great Wall Hobby kit. The self-adhesive film is cut in advance to the shape of the cockpit canopy frames and of the other areas to be covered while spraying. The modeler peels the template off, sticks it onto the clear part, sprays the framing and lifts it off once the paint has dried. That saves the most demanding handwork of the whole build, because in 1:72 scale frames are very difficult to cut from tape.
The double-sided version. According to the name the set is double-sided, so it allows for the inner side of the glazing as well. That makes sense on a long two-seat cockpit, into which there is a clear view on a finished model. Stick the inner templates on and spray the frames before you seat the clear part in the fuselage.
The F-14B was a version of the twin-engine carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing, with a more modern engine than the first batches. The later machines gained the ability to act against ground targets, hence the unofficial nickname Bombcat. The cockpit for two crew members under a long canopy is one of the characteristic features of the type and on the model it is one of the most closely watched parts.
Wash and degrease the glazing, and only then apply the masks. Carry the film with tweezers, press the edges down with a toothpick and spray thin coats so that paint does not run under the edge. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, with a pull along the surface. Spray the inner frames in the interior color before the cockpit is closed up and set the clear part in with a glue that does not fog transparent plastic.
The set contains masking templates only, not the aircraft model, paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
