The main rotor of the Bell AH-1G Cobra attack helicopter with a dust and debris deflector in 1:32 scale, in the late form according to the name of the item.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set in 1:32 scale replaces the main rotor of the Bell AH-1G attack helicopter and in the name it is described as the form with a dust and debris deflector, that is with so-called sand shields, in the late form. The manufacturer lists it alongside an early variant, so a builder can choose according to the particular machine he is building.
This type was the first production helicopter designed from the outset as an attack machine. It came about on the mechanics of the UH-1, but it received a very narrow fuselage, an arrangement with the gunner at the front and the pilot behind him, a two-blade rotor and a nose turret with weapons. Its deployment in Southeast Asia showed how quickly a rotor head suffers from dust and sand off unpaved strips, and that is where the shields the set is aimed at come from. For a modeler it is a detail by which a machine can be placed in time.
The rotor head is best finished away from the model and fitted only once the fuselage has been painted. The fine protrusions will take little force, so gluing with cyanoacrylate drop by drop suits. A metallic cast on the contact faces and light dust on the underside of the blades will add credibility to the whole. The blades are fitted last, so that they are not in the way during further work and do not break.
