This item is not a kit of an aircraft. It is a replacement clear cockpit canopy formed by vacuum technology from a thin transparent film, intended for a model of the F-15E in 1:72 scale. It replaces the part from the base kit and deals with its main weakness, that is, its thickness. The dimensions and the shapes are based on the Academy kit.
Why a vacuum-formed part - an injection-molded clear part has to have a certain wall thickness to be manufacturable at all, and in a small scale it looks like a pane of plate glass. A vacuum-formed canopy is thinner by an order of magnitude, it distorts the view into the cockpit less and above all it makes it possible to show the cockpit open, because a part swung back does not look like a wedge of glass. That makes sense mainly where you have invested in detailing the interior.
The McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle is an American twin-engine two-seat combat aircraft derived from the F-15 fighter. Unlike the original version it is intended above all for strike tasks in all weathers, which the second station for the weapon systems officer and the adapted structure of the airframe, with the ability to carry a greater load of fuel and armament, match. The tandem cockpit under a common canopy is one of its most striking external marks.
Cut the part out of the frame with a sharp scalpel with enough to spare and only then sand the edge down on fine abrasive paper until it seats exactly. Work slowly, as material taken off will not come back. Scratches are polished out with a polishing paste and a subsequent dip in gloss varnish. It is glued with glue for canopies or with white PVA glue, which does not fog the view; super glue will fog the surface with its fumes and ruin the part. Before you begin we recommend taking the first piece as a trial one, if the set holds more than one. Check the compatibility against the kit you are building, as the part is formed to a particular model.
