Aires 1:72 F-4 Phantom II – resin landing gear bays refine the landing gear bays of the legendary jet aircraft, for experienced modelers.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set from Aires replaces the landing gear bays of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II multirole jet aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model, but an accessory for experienced modelers that lifts the simplified plastic bays from the kit to faithful castings with fine detail of bracing, piping and lines. On a model the bays are one of the clearly visible areas of the underside of the fuselage.
The F-4 Phantom II was a twin-engine supersonic multirole aircraft and one of the most successful combat machines of the Cold War. It served with the US Navy, the US Marine Corps and the US Air Force and spread to a number of other countries. It was deployed among other places in Vietnam and served in many forms for decades. The rugged landing gear carried a heavy aircraft able to take off from land bases and from carrier decks alike.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Try the fit dry before gluing and adjust the mating surfaces if needed. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; the details in the bays come out once clear-coated and gently brought out.
The set is supplied as resin parts, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model, but an accessory to a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
