Exterior sets of this kind usually deal with the small bumps, covers, antennas and intakes that are simplified in an injection mold or missing altogether. The package is not an aircraft kit, but a set of parts for detailing a model that has already been obtained.
The Crusader came about in the mid-1950s as a supersonic carrier fighter with a single turbojet and a characteristic high-mounted wing. During its long service it went through several upgrades that showed precisely on the surface of the airframe: antennas, sensors and equipment covers were added, and the details of the forward fuselage and the fairings changed. Machines in French naval service and export examples differed from the American versions in small ways, so it is the exterior details that decide how convincingly a model matches a particular version.
Wash the parts and free them of mold release residue before gluing. Cut the small bumps off directly on the cutting mat and put them straight into a dish so that they do not get lost. Mark the position of the parts in pencil from a dry fit against the drawing first, as resin is hard to reposition. Glue with super glue in small amounts; any excess goes white and then shows through the varnish. When you have finished, spray the whole model with a base coat so that the difference between the plastic and the resin disappears.
