This is not a kit but an accessory for the build. The set from Special Mask contains pre-cut masks matching the glazing of a model of the American F-84F Thunderstreak fighter-bomber in 1:72 scale. You apply them to the clear parts and spray the frames along with the rest of the airframe. The mask is cut for the F-84F kit from Special Hobby.
In 1:72 scale a canopy frame is often narrower than a millimeter. Trimming tape by hand to that width is a lottery, and worse, any inaccuracy is proportionally far more noticeable on the small area of a cockpit than on large models. A pre-cut mask guarantees the same width along the whole length of the frame and at the same time spares you bringing a blade near the glazing. In small scales the time saved is counted in hours, not in minutes.
The F-84F Thunderstreak was an American jet fighter-bomber of the 1950s, derived from the straight-wing F-84 by adopting a swept wing and a more powerful engine. It served mainly as a machine for attacks on ground targets and became one of the most widespread types in the European member states of the North Atlantic alliance, where in many countries it formed the backbone of tactical aviation until newer types arrived.
Wash the clear parts, degrease them and let them dry completely. Seat the mask dry, check its position against the engraved frames and press it down with a soft stick. On parts this small it is essential to spray really thin coats, because a heavy coat of paint builds a ridge at the edge that breaks off when the mask is removed and visually widens the frame. Apply the interior color first and take the mask off as soon as possible once the last coat has dried.
