A masking set in 1:72 scale for a model of the F4U Corsair fighter, prepared to match the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vought F4U Corsair is an American carrier fighter with a piston engine and with the unmistakable inverted gull wing, which earned it a nickname taken from the shape of a gull's wings. The long nose and the inverted gull wing make the Corsair one of the most rewarding modeling subjects and at the same time a machine on which every inaccuracy in the division of colors shows at once.
This is a masking set, that is cut-out covering elements that are stuck onto a model, sprayed over and removed after spraying. According to the name the set is prepared for the kit from the Tamiya brand, so the shapes of the masks match its parts. The exact purpose of the individual masks and their placement on a model are shown in the instructions enclosed with the set.
Always stick a mask onto a perfectly dry and degreased base and press the edges down carefully so that paint cannot creep under them. Spray in thin coats and rather in two passes than in one heavy coat. Remove the mask shortly after spraying, while the paint is still flexible, and pull it back on itself at an angle rather than straight up. Adhesive residue is removed by gentle wiping.
The set suits modelers who want sharp color transitions without laboriously cutting tape. Working with masks is undemanding, but it calls for patience when removing them. The kit itself, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
