An injection-molded plastic kit of the German fighter biplane Fokker D.VII in the version from the license production of the Ostdeutsche Albatros Werke plant, abbreviated OAW, in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer MAC Distribution. It is a short-run model with fine relief, a photo-etched fret and decals for several marking options. The build includes the bracing wires between the wings and it suits more experienced modelers. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
The Fokker D.VII is often regarded as the best German fighter of the First World War. It handled exceptionally well, climbed well and forgave its pilots their mistakes even at the edge of the flight envelope. Because demand outstripped the capacity of the parent Fokker company, other works built it under license as well. The OAW version comes from the Ostdeutsche Albatros Werke plant, the eastern branch of the Albatros company. Machines from the individual license lines differed from one another in details, typically in the perforation and shape of the engine cowlings or in the finish of the fabric covering, which makes an interesting distinction for a modeler.
Clean up the short-run parts carefully and dry-fit them. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The typical lozenge pattern on the fabric usually comes with the decals; align their edges carefully. Set the upper wing precisely on the struts and add the bracing wires after painting. A fine wash and a matte varnish will give the model a period look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
