A resin engine cowling of the Fw 190D-9 with the cooling flaps open, 1:72 scale will replace the closed plastic part of a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set in 1:72 scale replaces the forward engine cowling of the long-nosed Dora and adds to it the cooling flaps in the open position. That is how the aircraft looked on the ground with the engine running and just after it had been shut down, when the flaps opened fully. Plastic kits usually do not offer this position, because only the closed shape is molded.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 came about by converting the well-known machine with a radial engine to an inverted V12 Jumo 213. The radiator took the form of a ring ahead of the engine, so from the outside the aircraft kept a round nose, but the fuselage was lengthened both at the front and at the rear. Pilots got a machine with better performance at greater altitudes, and because of its drawn-out silhouette it came to be nicknamed the long nose. It entered the fighting in the last phase of the war over Germany.
A fairly large part of the nose is replaced, so first check dry how the casting meets the fuselage and cut the plastic part away exactly at the line of division. Rid the surface of the mold release layer with a short bath in lukewarm water. Secure the joints with super glue and fill any gap. Open flaps draw the eye inside, so it pays to paint the areas visible through them as well.
