Metal Hispano Mk.V cannon barrel tips in 1:72 scale for the Hawker Tempest Mk.II, Mk.V and Mk.VI and for the Hawker Fury and Sea Fury.
Responsibility details are not available.
The muzzle of a barrel is one of the places where simplification in a small scale shows up best. A plastic part usually has a solid or merely suggested bore and a wall thicker than the real thing would have. A metal tip does away with this shortcoming: the bore is genuine, the outline exactly circular and the edge crisp, which catches the eye on a finished model even from a distance.
The 20 mm Hispano cannon was among the basic armament of British fighters of the Second World War. The Mk.V version was shorter and lighter than the older versions. It was carried by Hawker Tempest machines in the Mk.II, Mk.V and Mk.VI versions and by the later Hawker Fury and Sea Fury, that is by the aircraft this set is intended for.
Cut the plastic muzzle off the model with a sharp blade at the point the instructions specify and sand the cut flat. Carefully widen the hole for the pin with a fine drill to the required diameter and test the fit dry, because once glued in the part is hard to straighten. Degrease the metal before gluing and attach it with super glue. Before painting it pays to lay down a base coat intended for metal surfaces, or the paint will hold poorly.
The aircraft model, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
