Peewit 1:72 Ilyushin Il-2 and Il-2M is a set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks for spraying the glazing and other sharply bounded areas. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of cut self-adhesive masks in 1:72 scale for the Il-2 ground attack aircraft and its two-seat Il-2M version. It is not a model or parts of a model: the masks serve to let the cockpit glazing and other areas with a sharp edge be sprayed cleanly, without laboriously cutting tape under a magnifier. It is made by the Czech brand Peewit, which specializes in masking sets.
The Il-2 was a Soviet ground attack aircraft of the Second World War period. The characteristic element of its structure was the armored shell of the forward fuselage, which protected the engine, the radiators and the pilot. The originally single-seat form was later complemented by a second place for a gunner, and the designation Il-2M corresponds to that arrangement. The different cockpits of the two versions also mean a different shape of the glazing frames, which the set allows for.
For modelers who build the Il-2 in a small scale and want the cockpit frames straight and of even width. In 1:72 scale masking glazing by hand tends to be the most frequent place where an otherwise successful model is spoiled. The set saves time and markedly raises the chance that the cockpit will look clean the first time round. The masks are cut to the shape of a particular kit, so check before buying that they match the model you are building.
The package contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not part of it.
