The M-8-24 rocket launcher in 1:72 scale, offered as a separate assembly. It comes into its own alongside models of hardware and in a scene on a base.
Responsibility details are not available.
The designation M-8-24 belongs to a Soviet rocket weapon of the Second World War in which launch rails take the place of a barrel. The designation joins the type of rocket fired to the number of rails. The point of such a weapon was to send a whole salvo onto an area target in a short moment, where the effect of the whole burst mattered rather than the accuracy of a single round. After firing it was usually necessary to leave the position quickly, because the salvo gave it away.
The set is offered on its own, so what comes out of it is the rocket launcher as a separate unit. It works alongside models of hardware and in a scene on a base, where it makes a clearly legible element. In 1:72 scale the assembly comes out small and the individual parts measure only a few millimeters, so it pays to work over a tray with a raised edge and to pick the parts up with fine-jawed tweezers.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder back carefully, so that the thin sections do not break off. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, because paint holds badly on a greasy surface. The launch rails are the most conspicuous element of the whole weapon, so do not flood them with a thick coat. Thin paint, fine shading in the recesses and a light lift on the edges do more than a heavy spray.
For modelers in 1:72 scale who build hardware or scenes on a base and want the rocket armament as a separate element.
