This resin set from the Quickboost brand by Aires brings faithfully cast machine gun barrels for a model of the American Curtiss P-40B/C fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not a model of the aircraft but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers. The slender resin barrels look more faithful than thicker plastic parts and improve the appearance of the wings and the forward fuselage.
The Curtiss P-40 was an American single-engine fighter of the Second World War. The early P-40B and P-40C versions carried machine gun armament in the wings and above the engine. Fine, correctly shaped barrels are among the details that catch the eye on a model.
The barrels are very small and fragile, so separate them from the casting blocks only just before fitting and protect them from breaking. Wash the castings first in lukewarm water with dish soap to remove residues of mold release agent from the mold. Sand the cut faces with respiratory protection. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, not with cement for plastic.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory to a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
