A clear cockpit canopy in 1:72 scale for a model of the P-47D fighter aircraft in the Razorback configuration with a high fuselage spine.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was an American single-engine fighter aircraft, one of the heaviest fighters of the Second World War. The Razorback designation became established for the earlier configuration, on which the fuselage behind the pilot continued in a high spine and the cockpit had a framed canopy; later machines received a cut-down spine and a bubble canopy.
This is a separate clear cockpit canopy in 1:72 scale. A replacement canopy tends to be thinner and cleaner than the part from the kit, so there is a better view through it into the pilot's compartment, and it also comes in handy when the original part gets damaged or when the cockpit is meant to be open. The thinner wall also distorts the view of the interior equipment less, and on this type the interior is easy to see into from above.
Handle the part by the edges; fingerprints are hard to remove from a clear surface. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the outline and carefully sand the rest down with fine sandpaper, then polish the surface at the end. Glue it with glue intended for clear parts, which leaves no milky haze; ordinary cyanoacrylate glue can fog a clear surface. Mask the frames before spraying.
The part will be appreciated by modelers who find the canopy from the kit thick, and by those who want to display the cockpit open. Compare the shape of the canopy with the fuselage of your model before the build. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
