R-3S / AA-2 Atoll-A 1:72 is an Eduard resin accessory set with Soviet air-to-air guided missiles for fighter models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin accessory set with Soviet R-3S air-to-air guided missiles in 1:72 scale, designated AA-2 Atoll under the NATO reporting system. It is not a model in its own right but armament to be hung under models of fighters of the period. The castings capture the shape of the missile and of the seeker head faithfully and are completed with matching racks.
The R-3S was a short-range infrared-guided air-to-air missile developed in the Soviet Union. In shape and in function it was derived from the American AIM-9 Sidewinder. It armed MiG-21 fighters and other Soviet types in large numbers and spread to many countries.
Separate the parts from the casting blocks and clean them up. Assemble and paint the missiles separately; light and training shades with color bands are usual. Bond them with super glue and finally hang them on the underwing pylons.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
