The sheet is intended for models of the C-130J transport aircraft in British service in 1:72 scale and concentrates on special finishes — that is on machines that carried a nonstandard, anniversary or otherwise exceptional color scheme beyond the usual operational camouflage. This is the first part of a two-part series; the second part comes out separately and the two complete one another. The product does not hold a model, only markings.
The C-130J Super Hercules is a modernized generation of the classic Lockheed turboprop transport aircraft. It is recognized by its six-blade propellers with curved blades and by a modern flight deck with no flight engineer's position. The Royal Air Force operated two length versions; the shorter of them carried the designation Hercules C.5. The machines served for the tactical transport of cargo and personnel, for airdrop duties and for resupply on short and unpaved strips that larger transport aircraft cannot reach.
Special schemes work with large-area elements that run across several panels, doors and the cargo ramp — and that is the most demanding case there is with decals. Have plenty of water ready and a soft flat brush with which you seat a large decal before it is drawn down. Lay it from the middle to the edges and push the air out with a cotton swab. Cut the film carefully across the outline of the doors and the emergency exits only once it is dry, and then go over it with decal softener again, so that the edges are drawn into the engraved lines. The round fuselage of the Hercules demands patience: hold the band of the decal parallel to the longitudinal axis and keep checking by looking from the front, not from above.
