An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese Shenyang F-8 interceptor (the F-8II version) with the NATO reporting name Finback-B in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. It is a detailed model with richly worked parts, finely engraved panel lines, a cockpit, a clear canopy and external stores. Check the exact package contents and the number of parts against the enclosed instructions.
The Shenyang F-8 (J-8 in Chinese service) is a Chinese twin-engine supersonic interceptor. The Finback-B version brought a redesigned nose with side air intakes and a solid nose cone, which freed up space for a larger radar and improved the ability to search for and track targets. The aircraft was intended above all for air defense and for intercepting intruders at high altitude and speed. It is among the important types of the domestic Chinese aviation industry.
Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic, and the fine and clear parts preferably with cyanoacrylate. Paint the cockpit and the instrument panel and add the details before you close the fuselage; the clear canopy can be protected with a mask during spraying. Fit the missiles and the tanks only after the airframe has been painted. A primer, airbrush painting and a light wash to bring out the panel lines are recommended.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
