38th SS Grenadier Division Nibelungen Plaque 25mm is a diorama plaque 25 mm in size with the emblem of the formation from the name. It serves to mark the base of a finished scene; it is not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This accessory does not belong in a scene but at its edge. The plaque 25 mm in size carries the badge of the formation given in the name and is fitted to a base or to a plinth under a display case. The Dynamo-Models range is built so that the individual pieces can be combined: anyone who builds a series of scenes on one period gets the same format of designation for all of them, and thanks to that a display case reads as a whole rather than as a random collection.
The 38th SS-Grenadier-Division Nibelungen was set up only in April 1945, mainly around the staff and students of the officer school at Bad Tölz. It took part in the fighting only briefly in southern Bavaria and capitulated before American units in May 1945. It is therefore one of the very last formations to carry a divisional designation, and a scene with this plaque is tied to just a few weeks of the very end of the war in the Alpine foothills.
In a display case it is the angle of the light that counts. So fit the plaque in such a way that side lighting falls on it and brings the relief out; under frontal lighting a small design flattens. Before fitting it, try whether a slight turn toward the viewer is not better than exact alignment with the edge. Leave the ground around the accessory matte. If you use toning on the plaque, choose a shade that differs from the color of the base in brightness and not in tone alone, otherwise it will be lost in a photograph.
