AEROmodel no. 7 Hurricane Mk.I and Bf 109E is a Czech printed publication of the publisher Jakab Publishing devoted to a pair of fighter aircraft from the beginning of the Second World War. It is not a kit, but a book.
Responsibility details are not available.
The seventh volume of the numbered AEROmodel range from the publisher Jakab Publishing. It is a printed publication in Czech, not a plastic model or a modeling accessory. The volume brings together two types that met in operational service in the same period and are therefore compared by modelers as well.
The Hawker Hurricane Mk.I is a fighter aircraft of mixed construction. Its basis is a welded tubular frame with wooden and fabric elements of the covering, which made manufacture and field repairs easier. The powerplant was the liquid-cooled twelve-cylinder Rolls-Royce Merlin, and the main armament was a battery of machine guns of 7.7 mm caliber in the wings. The early machines had fabric covering of the wings and a wooden propeller, the later ones metal covering and a propeller with variable blade pitch.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109E, nicknamed Emil, is by contrast an all-metal structure with stressed skin and with the inverted vee Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine fitted with direct fuel injection. Its characteristic features are the angular trailing edge of the wing, the struts of the tailplane and the narrow track of the main undercarriage. The two designs represent two different technical schools of the same time, and comparing them is a rewarding theme for modeling too.
For modelers who are preparing to build a Hurricane or a Bf 109E and want to study the theme up, and for readers with an interest in the technology of the air fighting of 1940. The text is conducted technically and typologically.
This is a publication, not a kit. A model, paints and decals are not part of the delivery.
