Four GBU-54 guided bombs in the thermally protected form in 1:32 scale as add-on armament for aircraft models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The GBU-54 belongs to the family of American JDAM guided bombs, in which a guidance and control kit is fitted to a conventional bomb. The abbreviation LJDAM means that a laser sensor was added to the satellite and inertial guidance; an aircraft can thus hit a target that is moving as well. The bomb falls into the 500 pound weight class, and the designation thermally protected refers to a form of the body that resists fire better, which matters above all for operations on the deck of an aircraft carrier.
The package offers four bombs in 1:32 scale, that is enough for a model to carry a symmetrical load under both halves of the wing. In this scale the guidance head, the tail kit and the mounting lugs are all clearly legible, so it pays to assemble the individual pieces carefully and in the same way. The exact division of the parts and the recommended procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest, so that the body of the bomb stays symmetrical. Choose the glue according to what the parts are made of; outside polystyrene, cyanoacrylate proves itself. Before painting, wash and degrease the surface. It proves useful to paint all four pieces at once, so that the shade and the grading of the wear look uniform.
The set is for modelers who build current combat aircraft in 1:32 scale and want stores that match the real subject. It is add-on armament for a finished model; paints and glue are not in the package, unless stated otherwise.
