1:35 Concrete Breeze Blocks Version 1 (40pcs) is a diorama accessory from the brand GINGER CAT in 1:35 scale. It is neither a vehicle kit nor a figure, but a set of building elements, concrete blocks, which you set into a scene of your own. The name gives forty pieces, so there is enough material both for a continuous stretch of masonry and for a loosely stacked pile next to it.
Concrete blocks are a versatile building element which appears from the interwar era right up to the present day. On a diorama you can build a low garden wall around a family house out of them, a fence around a yard or a division between two plots of land. A low wall is a rewarding thing compositionally too: it divides up the area of the base, gives a figure something to lean on and at the same time does not hide the main model. Forty parts are enough for you to build a wall two courses high and still leave some of the blocks aside as material not yet built in.
First build the wall dry and find its exact place in the composition; a low wall should lead the gaze to the main model, not compete with it. Wash the parts before painting and let them dry thoroughly. Never paint concrete with a single gray: begin with a lighter base, darken the joints with a brown-gray wash and draw the edges out with a dry brush. Small differences of shade between the individual blocks look realistic, because real masonry never has a uniform tone. At the foot of the wall a little pigment comes in handy, which joins the wall to the base to the eye.
