It is not a model of equipment but material for building surroundings: concrete blocks out of which you build masonry on a base. According to the name there are forty of them in the set, an amount with which it is possible to work freely and keep some back for a later scene.
The blocks suit farm and utility buildings above all: sheds, lean-tos, enclosures and low perimeter walls. It is precisely buildings like these that make up the background of most rural and suburban scenes, and yet little attention is paid to them in modeling. A wall of individual blocks has one fundamental advantage over a cast slab: you can leave it part built, break it with a gateway or turn it into a ruin. The loose pieces you then scatter around the building as material nobody has used yet.
Rid the parts of dust before painting and let them dry. Lay the wall up on a flat surface so that the courses sit true, but allow yourself a small irregularity on purpose; perfectly straight masonry looks artificial in a photograph. Fill the joints with modeling putty and wipe the excess away, which gives the impression of mortar. In color, start from a light concrete gray with a hint of beige, darken the joints and break the surfaces up with a few patches of a different shade. At the end add dust and low vegetation at the foot of the wall so that it does not stand in a void.
