An accessory for a diorama from the brand GINGER CAT in 1:35 scale. The name gives 40 pieces of pierced concrete blocks, that is of the elements known as breeze blocks. It is not a model of a vehicle or of a building, but a building element out of which you lay up a scene yourself. Version 17 is one of the numbered variants of the range; what its pattern looks like you will see from the illustrations in the manufacturer's catalog.
A wall of pierced blocks is a rewarding element, because it is see-through and the scene behind it stays legible. It suits the fencing of a yard, a dividing wall between a house and the street, the parapet of a stairway, or the upper band of a facade above the doors of a workshop. In a combat scene a broken wall looks good too, where a few pieces are missing and the rest has stayed standing on its mortar.
Start from a light gray base, bring the recesses out with a darker glaze and lighten the edges slightly instead. Pigments at the foot of the wall will suggest drifted dust and splashes from the rain; a fine green cast in the shade comes across as damp mildew. Lay the set out dry before you glue it in, so that the courses follow on and the wall stands upright. The mortar in the joints tends to be a shade lighter than the block itself, so a fine difference between the two will do the scene good.
