A plastic set in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian maker ICM. It contains a model of the GrW 34 medium mortar together with figures of the crew. It is not a vehicle or aircraft model but an accessory for a diorama or a standalone display scene.
The Granatwerfer 34 was the standard German 8 cm medium mortar, which served with infantry units throughout the Second World War. Its layout is the classic one: a smooth barrel, a bipod with mechanisms for fine elevation and traverse, and a baseplate. The weapon was carried broken down into three loads, so the crew consisted of several men, and the typical poses of the figures at the weapon match that.
Glue the figures first and clean the parting lines up carefully, above all on the arms and the helmets; once they are painted every trace shows. Apply a thin primer before painting. For the uniforms a base shade, a darker wash into the folds and dry brushing on the edges are enough; paint the faces separately and in several thin steps. Paint the mortar in a dark shade with fine metal wear on the barrel and dust on the baseplate. Finally unify the whole group with a matte varnish so that the figures and the weapon sit in one scene.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
