An injection-molded plastic kit of the German reconnaissance aircraft Focke-Wulf Fw 189A-1 in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The model captures the characteristic layout with two tail booms and a glazed central nacelle for the crew. Check the actual package contents and the decal options against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Fw 189, nicknamed Uhu (eagle owl), was a German twin-engine army reconnaissance and observation aircraft. It was typical for its twin-boom layout and its extensively glazed cockpit, which gave the crew an excellent view. It was powered by a pair of air-cooled Argus As 410 engines. It was used mainly on the Eastern Front for close reconnaissance, artillery spotting and liaison duties.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. The extensive glazing of the nacelle is a showpiece — paint and highlight the interior before you close it up and mask the glazing frames, ideally with masking tape. German schemes on the Eastern Front carried various shades of green and gray, often with period winter camouflage. After a gloss coat and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
