A plastic kit of the Swedish SAAB SK-37E, the two-seat version of the Viggen rebuilt for electronic warfare training, in 1:72 scale from Special Hobby.
Responsibility details are not available.
The SAAB 37 Viggen was a Swedish supersonic combat aircraft with a canard surface ahead of a delta wing, designed so that it could operate from short stretches of road scattered across the country. The two-seat SK-37 trainer version had a second cockpit with its own canopy set higher behind the pilot. Some of these machines were later rebuilt into the SK-37E version nicknamed Stör-Viggen, which simulated an opponent waging electronic warfare for Swedish crews and radar operators. It carried its jamming equipment in pods under the wing.
This is an injection-molded kit in 1:72 scale, supplied unassembled and unpainted. The parts are separated from the sprues with cutters and the remains of the gates are leveled with sandpaper.
With a fuselage of complex shape it pays to try the parts dry and to glue in short sections. The pair of canopies calls for careful masking, so put the masking tape on before spraying. Swedish machines wore a striking camouflage scheme with hard edges, which comes out best over cut masks or thin rolls of modeling putty.
The set is for modelers with experience of short-run kits. Paints, glue and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
