Note, this is NOT a scalpel. The package contains five replacement blades with a fine, sharply pointed tip. The handle (the scalpel grip) is not included — you have to have it already. The blades are intended for the modeling scalpel of the same manufacturer. If you have a handle of another brand, check before buying that the blade really does fit it — blade fittings are not uniform across manufacturers, and a blade that does not fit your handle is of no use to you.

Use

• Cutting decals — separating individual decals from the sheet exactly along the edge of the backing.
• Engraving and restoring lines — finely re-engraving panel lines that have disappeared after sanding and filling.
• Cleaning sprue gates and flash — removing the remains of sprue gates and the parting line on parts.
• Fine scraping — cleaning up small areas, scraping off excess filler or dried paint.
• The pointed tip reaches even into corners and narrow places an ordinary knife cannot get to.

Who they are for

For plastic modelers who already use a scalpel and need to replace a blunted blade. The fine point is ideal for accurate, small work; for rough cutting of thick material a more robust general-purpose blade is better, because a thin tip breaks off easily under pressure.

Safety — please read carefully. The blades are very sharp. Always cut away from yourself and away from your other hand, on a cutting mat, never in your hand or on your lap. A blunt blade is more dangerous than a sharp one — it calls for more pressure and slips easily out of the cut, so replace it in good time and do not put it off. Put the scalpel down with a cap on or with the point away from you, and never leave it lying loose on the table. Keep it out of reach of children. Do not throw used and broken blades loose into a bin — wrap them (in stiff card or tape, for example) or put them in a closed container so that nobody is injured. Neither a scalpel nor a handle is included in the package.
