A set of stencils for spraying with an airbrush, intended for fine details according to the name. The principle is simple: the stencil covers part of the surface, the paint passes only through its cut-outs and a cleanly bounded pattern is left on the area. Painting the same pattern freehand takes longer and rarely comes out the same everywhere. It is an aid for making dioramas, so it comes into its own on terrain features and on a base just as much as on a model itself.
Lay it on before spraying, not onto a dried coat, and press it close against the surface. No gap must be left between the stencil and the surface, as otherwise paint runs underneath and the edge is blurred. Spray perpendicularly from above, at lower pressure and in several light coats; one dense coat will run under the edge of the cut-out and the pattern will be washed out. With a fine pattern, more heavily thinned paint and a shorter distance from the surface help. When you are done, clean the stencil while the paint is still wet, because a dried layer clogs the cut-outs and the next impression comes out coarser.
They will be appreciated by builders of dioramas and bases who need to repeat the same pattern over a larger area. They also serve well for practicing with an airbrush, because the edge of the pattern shows at once how it is changed by the pressure set and the distance from the surface. The size of the sheet and the motif of the cut-outs are stated by the manufacturer on the box.
The stencils are supplied on their own. Paints, an airbrush and a model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
