This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:144 scale captures the Japanese US-2 amphibious search and rescue airplane in its prototype form. The model faithfully reproduces the characteristic hull of the flying boat, the high-set wing with its four turboprop engines and the landing gear that allows takeoff from land as well as water.
The US-2 is a modern amphibious airplane with short takeoff and landing, operated by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. It serves above all for search and rescue missions on the open sea, where it can land even in worsened conditions. It follows on from the older US-1A type and is marked by a pressurized cabin and an advanced boundary layer control system for a very short takeoff.
At a small scale, take care over the clean joining of the fuselage halves and the exact seating of the engine nacelles. The clear parts of the cabin can be masked before spraying. We recommend a base of primer and an airbrush; fine lining and bringing out the panel lines will give the model its fidelity to scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
