The Volvo FH is a Swedish semitrailer tractor for long-distance haulage, and the fourth generation, which carries the FH4 designation, is among the most widespread machines on European highways. It is powered by an inline six-cylinder diesel mounted under the cab. The Globetrotter XL is the tallest cab version: it offers full standing height and a bunk for a driver who spends nights on the road as well. It is precisely the tall cab that makes the FH such an unmissable model in a display case.

Assemble the frame on a flat board and keep checking that it is not twisted; otherwise it only shows at the end, when one wheel fails to reach the ground. Spray the cab in several thin coats and let the paint dry thoroughly between them; on large smooth areas every unevenness shows. Finish the interior before you close the cab. Glue the glazing with a cement meant for clear parts so that the windows do not fog. Leave the mirrors, handles, exhaust and other fine elements until the end of the build. Apply the decals onto a smooth gloss surface and run a softener over the edges so that they settle into the corners.
