A resin set of wheels in 1:32 scale from the Reskit brand for building a model of the British supersonic Lightning interceptor, which according to the period is carried under the designation English Electric as well as British Aircraft Corporation. The manufacturer defines the set as the late type. The accessory replaces the wheels from a plastic kit, but on its own it makes up no model. Check the number of parts and the contents of the package on the packaging.
The Lightning was a single-seat interceptor with the unusual concept of two engines mounted one above the other in the fuselage and with a circular nose air intake with a central cone. From the end of the 1950s it served as a fast-climbing means of defending airspace and excelled precisely in its rate of climb. The strongly swept wing and the narrow fuselage led to compact landing gear, whose main legs retract outward into the wing. On the later versions the details of the wheels and tires differed from the early machines.
Wash the parts in water with detergent, cut the casting block off with a saw and level the contact patch. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. The Lightning is often built in natural metal or in a glossy gray scheme, where the surrounding shine readily brings out every imperfection, so work carefully around the landing gear bays. Finish the tire with a matte varnish, spray the hub separately and handle the edge with masking tape cut into a curve. Keep the patina sparing.
