Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary German Fokker Dr.I fighter triplane in the large 1:32 scale from Meng. The model boasts a faithfully rendered wing structure and an imitation of the fabric covering, a detailed cockpit and engine; the enclosed photo-etched parts make it possible to render the machine gun cooling jackets and the sights. A triplane puts the emphasis on the bracing between the three wings. Check the actual package contents and the decals against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Fokker Dr.I was a triplane fighter of the German air service in the First World War, famous above all thanks to Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron. Its three wings, one above the other, gave it an excellent rate of climb and agility in a turning fight, though at the cost of a lower speed. It was powered by a rotary engine. The triplane became one of the most iconic aircraft of the whole war.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched items with cyanoacrylate. Paint and emphasize the cockpit and the engine before you close the fuselage — in the large 1:32 scale they really show. The most demanding step is the bracing between the three wings; create the wires and the bracing from fine thread only after painting. Support the imitation of the fabric covering with gentle shading and add a restrained wash after the decals. The famous red scheme calls for a smooth base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories beyond the contents of the box are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
