A metal set from the Polish brand MASTER for a model of the He 162 jet fighter in 1:32 scale. As the name states, it contains MG 151 barrel tips, a nose gear indicator and a pitot tube. It is not an aircraft kit, but a detail add-on for a model you already have under construction.
The set does not replace the whole guns, only their protruding ends. The process is simple: you shorten the plastic barrel, drill a hole into the remainder, and fit the metal part. The result is a gun with a real bore and a sharp muzzle edge that a plastic molding in this scale never has. In 1:32 the difference is especially noticeable, since the nose is the dominant feature when viewed head-on.
The He 162 was a single-seat jet fighter with its engine mounted on top of the fuselage, a nose landing gear, and a structure that, for reasons of economy, made extensive use of wood. It entered service only in the very last stage of the Second World War and was built in relatively small numbers. The armament sat in the sides of the forward fuselage; this set corresponds to the version armed with MG 151 guns.
First test-fit everything dry, and only then glue. Fit the metal parts with a small drop of cyanoacrylate glue; for the gear indicator and the pitot tube, watch the perpendicularity and angle. Degrease the metal, spray it with a metal primer, and either leave the barrel tips in bare metal or lightly weather them with graphite — it looks more convincing than flat black paint. Fit the thinnest parts only after painting and decaling.
This is an add-on for a model, not a stand-alone kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
