This set from the Polish brand Master replaces the plastic barrels of the 20 mm wing cannons and the pitot tube on a model of the A-1 Skyraider attack aircraft in 1:72 scale. This variant is meant for machines with flash hiders on the barrel muzzles. Master also offers a version without flash hiders, so check against a photograph of the particular machine which form you need. It is not an aircraft kit but a metal accessory for the build.
The A-1 Skyraider was an American single-engine piston attack aircraft of carrier origin that stayed in service well into the jet era. It was valued for the large load on its pylons and for its ability to stay over a target for a long time. The armament consisted of 20 mm cannons in the wings. The pitot tube senses dynamic pressure for measuring airspeed and on a model it is one of the most exposed thin parts.
In 1:72 scale a plastic barrel is so thin that it cannot be drilled reliably, and a flash hider is in practice impossible to mold sharply. That is exactly why this set is bought. Cut off the plastic part, widen the hole in the wing with a drill to the diameter of the pin and seat the metal part dry, so that the barrels point parallel and stand out by the same amount. Only then add a drop of cyanoacrylate. Fit the pitot tube at the very end of the build, when the model is going into its display case, otherwise you will keep catching on it. Degrease before painting and use a primer for metal, or darken the brass with a blackening solution and merely polish the muzzle.
This is an accessory for building a model, not a standalone kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
