The real subject

The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is an American supersonic aircraft with a very thin wing of small area and a T-tail. The F-104F version is the two-seat trainer, while the F-104G is the multirole form that became the most widespread in Europe. The small wing area meant a high landing speed, so the landing gear and the wheels on this type carried a heavy load on touchdown.

What the set contains

These are replacement wheels in 1:32 scale for both versions named, that is an accessory to a kit rather than a stand-alone model. They are fitted in place of the parts from the kit, and best at the end of the build, so that they do not suffer during further handling. How many parts the set carries is given in the manufacturer's instructions supplied with it.

Building and painting tips

The material of the parts is not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on it and the joints are glued with cyanoacrylate. Cut the excess material and the traces of production away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the surface, so as not to cut into the outline of the tire. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. In a large scale, painting the hub and the tire separately comes into its own, so mark the boundary between them with masking tape.
