1:35 Heinkel He-111H-6 - Airbrush Maks Set (for Border Model Kits)

1 Man Army 1:35 marking masks for the Heinkel He 111 H-6 for the Border Model kit

Laser-cut self-adhesive masks in 1:35 scale for spraying the markings of the Heinkel He 111 H-6 bomber. The manufacturer, the Belgian brand 1 Man Army, intended them for the kit from the Border Model brand and lists them under the number 35DET006.

Scale 1:35 on an aircraft

With aircraft 1:35 is unusual; that scale belongs mainly to ground vehicles. Border Model, however, really did release the He 111 H-6 bomber in 1:35, as a large kit with a well detailed interior, and the masks are meant precisely for it. The scale of this set therefore really is 1:35.

The real subject

The Heinkel He 111 was a German twin-engine bomber recognizable at a glance by its fully glazed nose. The H-6 version was among the most numerous, it was powered by a pair of Jumo 211F engines and besides bombs it could carry torpedoes, so it was used against shipping as well. The glazed nose gives a model in 1:35 plenty of room for detail, and sprayed markings on the surfaces of the fuselage and wing stand up better beside it than a decal would.

Usage tips

Stick the masks onto thoroughly dried paint that you have degreased beforehand. The German crosses on the fuselage and wings have straight edges and any overspray shows on them at once, so lay on genuinely thin coats and cover the area around the set as well. Large surfaces in 1:35 tempt you into spraying quickly, but it is along the long edges that paint creeps under the most. Lift the mask off with tweezers before the paint has fully cured, and try the stencils out beforehand on an offcut of plastic.

These are masks for painting a model, not a kit. The basic Border Model kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
