Modern Plastic Drums (variant no. 1) in 1:35 scale are modern plastic drums from the Vallejo diorama range. It is a scenic prop for completing a finished scene, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of modern plastic drums in 1:35 scale from the Vallejo range of scenic accessories. It serves to make a diorama lived-in, to fill the bed of a truck or to create a storage corner. A model and a base are not included. How many drums the package contains and what material they are cast from is stated on the packaging.
A plastic drum is painted differently from a steel one, and that is exactly where its value for a scene lies. It does not rust, so the usual recipe with orange corrosion does not work here. Instead, wear shows as abrasion on the hoops and edges, a faded surface on the side facing the sun, weathered runs of dirt in the grooves and the remains of labels. The saturated color of the plastic also brings into an otherwise gray-green military scene a color accent that immediately gives the contemporary period of the action away.
A light primer handles the base best; on it a saturated color brightens and covers in fewer coats. Spray the base with an airbrush so that the grooves on the body stay sharp. Suggest fading with a light overspray of a lighter tone from above, never over the whole area. Use the wash sparingly, as plastic does not have recesses as deep as sheet metal, so flowing into the upper and lower rim is enough. Seal the surface with a satin clear coat; a matte one would take away the typical plastic look. Labels and tags are better managed with a scrap of paper soaked in clear than by painting.
The drums are supplied unpainted. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
