Sherman Firefly VC 1:35 (Asuka/Tasca) - an injection-molded plastic kit of the British Sherman armed with the powerful 17-pounder gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Asuka (formerly Tasca) captures the British Sherman Firefly VC tank. The brand is renowned for its fine molding and the exceptional accuracy of its detail. The kit usually contains photo-etched parts, a commander figure and flexible tracks, which make the build easier without taking anything away from the detail. Decals for several vehicles are normally included.
The Firefly was the British answer to the weaker armament of the standard Sherman. The powerful 17-pounder gun was fitted into a modified turret and it was able to threaten even the heavy German tanks. During the close of the Second World War the Fireflies played an important part and about two thousand of them were built. A characteristic feature is the long barrel with a muzzle brake and the counterweight at the rear of the turret, which balanced the heavy gun. The crews often disguised the conspicuous barrel with paint so that the vehicle would not be recognizable as a Firefly at first glance.
The accurate parts will be appreciated above all by more experienced builders. First finish the running gear, and only then close the hull up; leave the tracks until the end. Spray the base coat with an airbrush in British olive drab (SCC) and highlight the edges. For the patina use a darker wash in the recesses, chipped paint on the edges and earth pigments on the running gear. Paint the commander figure separately with a brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
