A set of 20 turned brass barrels for the 20 mm Oerlikon Mk.10 (1:350, Aber) for models of American warships. A metal detail accessory replacing the plastic barrels of the light anti-aircraft cannon.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Polish manufacturer Aber contains 20 turned brass barrels of the light 20 mm Oerlikon anti-aircraft cannon (with an L/70 barrel, the Mk.10 mount) in 1:350 scale. It is not a ship model but a metal accessory that replaces the coarse plastic barrels on a kit with fine, accurate metal parts.
The 20 mm Oerlikon was the most widespread light anti-aircraft cannon of the US Navy in the Second World War. The simple single mount was fitted to the decks of practically every vessel and supplemented the heavier Bofors guns in the close defense against aircraft. The thin barrel is a detail that gains a great deal from a metal version in a small scale.
You cut the original plastic barrels off and replace them with the brass ones. Glue the metal with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and degrease the joint beforehand. A coat of primer and a color matching the American deck camouflage are recommended; the fine barrels only need picking out with light dry-brushing.
This is a detail accessory, not a model in its own right. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package.
